The fifth and final rescheduled test between India and England will start in a few days’ time. India are currently playing a four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire.
But with only a few days left to the start of the match, India dealt with a huge blow. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, has retired as COVID positive and will have to complete a six-day isolation before rejoining the team. This is not the first case.

Earlier, the veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was also tested positive for Covid-19. But he has recovered now and has joined the team.
Now the concern is who will lead the side against England on June 1. KL Rahul is also not available due to injury. So who will be the one who will take India forward? This will be the big question for India.
IND vs ENG: Who will lead India in the absence of Rohit Sharma?

Currently, the management has three options within the team. The former Indian skipper who led the team in the first four matches of the series will be the first one. Virat Kohli has done a tremendous job while captaining the side in red-ball cricket.
He is one of the best test skippers of all time. So, will he be the one for the team? But it all depends on what he is thinking and how the management will convince Virat to do this job.
Rishabh Pant is another candidate who can lead the team. He recently made his captaincy debut for India against South Africa and did a decent job.
He has the experience of leading his IPL franchise but has not led any team in red-ball cricket. So that might go against him, but he is also an option for the management.
Last but not the least, the leader of the Indian bowling attack, Jasprit Bumrah. The ace pacer was also the vice-captain in the three-match ODI series against South Africa in January. And as per some reports, he is the one who is the favourite to do these duties.
So what do you guys think? Who will be the ideal candidate to lead Team India in an all-important Test match against England? Because India can’t afford the loss. A loss in the match will mean that England will level the series and India may get out of the race for the WTC final.
