“But does he really even want to be No. 1 again?”- Shahid Afridi slams Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is a world-renowned cricketer when it comes to the game of cricket. But former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi has made some bold statements about his batting form. The former Indian skipper has been struggling with his batting form and is currently going through a lean patch. He has not been able to cross the 100-run mark for almost three years now.

He scored his last international ton in November 2019 against Bangladesh. In the TATA IPL 2022 as well, he didn’t perform as per expectation. Many former cricketers and annalists have criticized Virat for his bad form. But now Afridi has also opened up on this matter. The former all-rounder feels that Virat doesn’t have the attitude now to be at the top.

“But does Virat Kohli really even want to be No. 1 again? – Shahid Afridi

The former Pakistani all-rounder has slammed Virat and has questioned his approach. He said that it does not look like the former Indian skipper is playing with the same kind of attitude that he used to have in his early days. In a discussion with Samaa TV, Afridi stated,

“In cricket, attitude matters the most. That is what I talk about the most. Do you have an attitude towards cricket or not? That Kohli, earlier in his career, wanted to be the No. 1 batsman in the world… is he still playing cricket with the same motivation? That is the big question. “But does he really even want to be No. 1 again? Or does he think he has achieved everything in life. Now just relax and pass time? It’s all about attitude.”

The former RCB skipper also struggled in the IPL. In 16 matches, he scored only 341 runs at an average of 22.73. He only scored two half-centuries but got out three times on a golden duck. Kohli is also not part of the ongoing series against South Africa. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given rest to him along with a few senior players.

Notably, all these rested players will join the team on their tour to England at the end of this month. The former by Kohli is very important for India as two World Cups are coming in the next 18 months. He is a vital player for India and his experience is very important for the Men in Blue.
