Eoin Morgan, the World Cup-winning captain, is set to retire from international cricket. As per some reports, he will announce his retirement on June 28, Tuesday.
England won the last ODI World Cup under the captaincy of Eoin Morgan in 2019 at home. He also led the English team to the top of the ODI and T20I team rankings.
Notably, the 35-year-old is struggling with his batting form and also has some fitness issues. In the recently concluded ODI series against the Netherlands, he missed the third ODI match due to a groin injury.
But in the first two games, when other English batters were scoring runs at will, he got out for ducks in both innings. In the first match, he got out for a golden duck. In the second game, he got out on zero after facing seven balls.
England will compete against India for a three-match ODI and T20I series starting on June 7. So it will be interesting to see if he announces his retirement and who will lead the English side.
