IND vs SL: Virat Kohli has started the year 2023 with a bang. He has scored his 45th ODI century in the very first ODI of the year. India is taking on Sri Lanka in the first game of the three-match ODI series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. But their decision totally went against them, as the Men in Blue have scored a mammoth total of 373/7 in their 50 overs.

It was a dream come true moment for many Indian fans as the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored his back-to-back ODI centuries after scoring a century against Bangladesh in the third ODI last month. He scored an 80-ball fifty and made 113 runs off 87 balls, with 12 fours and one six. With this century, Virat also went past Sachin Tendulkar to score the most centuries against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

Prior to this match, Virat and Sachin had eight ODI centuries each against Sri Lanka, but now Virat has scored the most ODI centuries against the Islanders. This was also the 20th ODI century for the former Indian skipper at home, and now he has equaled Sachin’s tally of 20 centuries at home in 50-over cricket, which is the most by any batter in the world.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a flying start and added 143 runs for the first wicket. Rohit was unfortunate to miss a century after going all guns blazing and making 83 runs off 67 balls, including nine fours and three sixes. Gill scored 70 runs off 60 balls, including 11 fours. Meanwhile, fans were also seen excited after Virat starting the 2023 with a century. Fans also lauded the former Indian skipper on Twitter.
