Dinesh Karthik retires from international cricket? Veteran wicket-keeper posts a cryptic message on Social media

Dinesh Karthik Retirement: India didn’t have a great T20 World Cup campaign recently, and as expected, some players were supposed to announce their retirement from cricket. One such expected retirement was that of veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, who might have confirmed his retirement unofficially.

The veteran wicketkeeper shared a cryptic video on his social media handle with a very long caption. He also talked about his dream and journey of playing in the T20 World Cup for India. DK also thanked his teammates, coaching staff, supporters, friends, and fans for their constant support in helping him achieve his dream.

Dinesh Karthik might have announced his retirement from cricket

He wrote that it was a proud moment to represent in the T20 World Cup, and it was full of memories. Dinesh Karthik wrote, “Worked hard towards the goal of playing the T20 World Cup for India and it wa such a proud feeling to do so… we did fall short of the ultimate motive, but it did fill my life with many memories to cherish. Thank you to all my fellow players, coaches, friends and most importantly the fans for the undying support.”

However, it wasn’t a great tournament for DK with the bat either. Speaking of his individual performance, he scored 14 runs in the three innings he played in the T20 World Cup. After he failed to do well during the group stage, India didn’t pick him in the semi-final against England. And after the World Cup, India didn’t give him the chance to feature in the T20I series against New Zealand.

The Indian Board had already signalled to him that he might not be part of India’s plan moving forward. A former selector said, “The World Cup in going to finish in some days and so we need to decide whom to rest or not. He (Karthik) has been performing and he is available to us. But this time we just thought of trying a different set of players after the World Cup.”

And with not many hopes left, Dinesh Karthik might have called it over at the highest level for India. He will keep playing in the franchise league (IPL).
