T20 cricket is a fast-moving game because there is not much time to settle for the players. It is just a matter of 120 balls per side. That is why we more often see some batters going berserk from the very first ball of their innings. They sometimes get out this way. But sometimes, they put pressure on the opposition.

It does, however, result in some quick and devastating knocks. Well, in T20I history, there are some instances where the batter smashes some really quick half-centuries. And in this article, we will cover the list of the fastest half-centuries in the history of T20 internationals. Notably, in this article, we will not cover the batsmen from associate nations.

5. Paul Stirling (17-ball Fifty) vs Afghanistan in 2012

Ireland’s veteran opener Paul Stirling holds the joint fastest fifth half-century in T20 internationals. He hit it against Afghanistan in the final of the T20 World Cup Qualifier in March 2012 at Dubai. He scored a 17-ball fifty and made 79 off 38 balls with nine fours and three sixes in a 153-run chase. Ireland won that match by five wickets.

4. Moeen Ali (16-ball Fifty) vs South Africa in 2022

English all-rounder Moeen Ali holds the record for the joint-fourth-fastest half-century in T20 cricket and the fastest for England. He scored a fifty off just 16 balls against South Africa in July 2022 at Bristol and made 52 off 18 balls, with two fours and six sixes. England made 234/6 in 20 overs and South Africa made 193/8. Thus, England won the match by 41 runs.

3. Shai Hope (16-ball Fifty) vs Bangladesh in 2018

West Indies opener Shai Hope has also struck a 16-ball fifty in T20 cricket. He hit it against Bangladesh in December 2018 at Sylhet in a 130-run chase. He made 55 off 23 balls, with three fours and six maximums. West Indies won that match by 8 wickets with 55 balls to spare.

2. Colin Munro (14-ball Fifty) vs Sri Lanka 2016

The second fastest fifty in T20 cricket is registered under the name of New Zealand opener Colin Munro. He hit a 14-ball fifty against Sri Lanka in January 2016 at Auckland. He made an unbeaten 50* off 14 balls, with 1 four and 7 sixes, in a 147-run chase. New Zealand chased down the total of 147 runs in 10 overs and with nine wickets in hand.

1. Yuvraj Singh (12-ball) vs England in 2007 (Fastest in T20 Cricket)

Well, who can forget the six sixes from Yuvraj Singh off English pacer Stuart Broad? That became one of the most iconic moments in T20 cricket history, and it happened during the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa. He scored a 12-ball half-century and made 58 off 16 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes, including six sixes in an over off Broad. India won the match by 18 runs and that record of Yuvraj is still in the record books. In fact, it was the fastest fifty in international cricket across all three formats.
