Two players who have played in all editions of T20 World Cups (2007-2022)

The T20 World Cup 2022 is all set to kick off on October 16 in Australia. This tournament will feature a total of 16 teams, who will compete to get their hands on the most prestigious trophy in the game. More than 240 players from 16 nations will represent their countries in this mega event.

The very first edition of the WT20 was played in 2007 in South Africa, which India won and became the inaugural WT20 champions. So far, the world has seen a total of seven editions of the T20 World Cup. West Indies has won it twice, while India, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka, and Australia have won it once each. Australia are the defending champions, having won the tournament in 2021 in the UAE.

It’s been 15 years since the inaugural edition in 2007. And it is not possible for a player to play it for that much of a time period either, when this format demands a lot of attention. However, there are two players who will enter the T20 World Cup 2022 with a record of making it eight out of eight times.

2. Shakib Al Hasan (2007-2022*)

Bangladesh skipper and No. 1 ranked T20I all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is one of two players that have played in all T20 World Cups in history. He will be seen leading Bangladesh in the upcoming WT20 in Australia. Shakib has played a total of 31 games in seven previous editions.

He has taken 41 wickets , which is the most by any bowler in the history of the T20 WC including three four-wicket hauls. Shakib Al Hasan has also scored the most runs for Bangladesh. He has scored 698 runs at an average of 26.84 and a strike rate of 124.64, including three half-centuries.

1. Rohit Sharma (2007-2022*)

Next on the list is the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma. The 35-year-old made his T20 WC debut against South Africa in the 2007 T20 WC and scored an unbeaten half-century. Since then, he has been a part of all the Indian squads that played in T20 World Cups over the years.

This time, he will be leading the Indian side for the first time in the upcoming ICC event. Rohit Sharma is the highest run-scorer for India in the T20 WC and fourth highest overall. He has played a total of 33 games and scored 847 runs in 30 innings at an average and a strike rate of 38.50 and 131.52, respectively. Rohit has also scored eight half-centuries in the T20 World Cup, which is second most in history.
