Virat Kohli smashed sixth half-century in IPL 2023; becomes first batter to complete 7000 IPL runs

RCB vs MI: IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore are taking on Delhi Capitals in the 50th game of the 16th edition. The game is underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After winning the toss, RCB chose to bat first. Both openers gave yet another good start. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 82 runs for the first wicket.

However, RCB lost two consecutive wickets. Du Plessis got out after scoring 45 off 32, with five fours and one six. Glenn Maxwell got out for a golden duck on the very next ball. It was a homecoming for Virat Kohli, as he was playing in Delhi, where he spent his initial years of his cricketing career. He also didn’t disappoint the fans and scored the sixth half century of the ongoing tournament.

Virat Kohli carried on his form and went on to score his sixth half-century of the season. He made 55 off 46 with three fours and one six. Virat and Mahipal Lomror added 55 runs for the third wicket. During his inning, the former RCB skipper became the first batter to complete 7000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Notably, the Arun Jaitley Stadium is the home ground for Virat, and he made it more special with this milestone. So far, he has scored 7,000 runs in 225 innings at an average of 36.65 and a strike rate of 129.54. Virat has also scored five centuries and 49 half-centuries, with a best of 113. Lomror also scored his maiden IPL half-century, scoring 54 not out from 29. As a result, RCB ended up with 181/4 in the first inning. Both teams earlier met this season, and RCB won that game.
