T20 World Cup 2022 is getting trickier with game after game. We have already gone through two weeks since the start of the “Super 12” stage, but still four semi-finalists are yet to be confirmed. All the teams are competing hard to make it to the semi-finals.
However, both groups have some teams that are looking good to make it to the next round. Group 1 has New Zealand, Australia, and England, who are prime contenders to make it to the next round. New Zealand needs just one win in two remaining games to qualify.
While Australia and England need to win their remaining games by a good margin to improve the NRR, because net run rate will come into play between these teams. While in Group 2, South Africa and India are likely to make it to the next round. But anything is still possible.
T20 World Cup 2022: Mithali Raj predicts both finalists for WT20
Some former players and cricket pundits have already shared their opinions and named a few players who might make it to the semis and finals of the tournament. Former Indian women’s star Mithali Raj has also predicted four teams for the semis and also named two teams that might play in the finals of the tournament. In an interview with Star Sports, she said,
“My predictions for semi-final spot, that is four spots will be India and South Africa from Group 2. From Group 1, it will be New Zealand and a toss-up between England and Australia. And the finalists, there is no doubt, India has to be there, and New Zealand.”
From Group 1, the Black Caps need one win to qualify, but if both England and Australia win their remaining games, the NRR will decide the other team. In Group 2, South Africa are looking pretty clear with five points from three games, while India need to win both their games against Bangladesh on November 2 and Zimbabwe on November 6 to make it to the next round of the T20 World Cup 2022.
