All of the Indian batters came out firing, hitting all of the opposition bowlers to all parts of the ground. However, it was once again India’s “Mr. 360” Suryakumar Yadav who ended up playing yet another blistering innings.
SKY once again showed his ability to hit the ball all around the ground. He scored India’s joint-fastest fifty off just 18 balls and scored 61 off just 22 balls, 5 fours and 5 maximums. He equalled the record of KL Rahul for the second fastest fifty for India.
Yuvraj Singh holds the record for a 12-ball half-century, which came against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Apart from SKY, Rahul also played well for his 57 off 28 balls, with four boundaries and four sixes.
IND vs SA 2022: Suryakumar Yadav becomes fastest Batter to reach 1000 T20I runs
India made 237/3 in their 20 overs, which is their fourth highest total in the history of T20 Internationals. It is India’s highest score against South Africa and the fifth score of 200+ in 2022. Apart from this, Suryakumar also achieved a big milestone in T20I. He became the fastest batter to reach the 1000-run mark in T20I in terms of balls faced.
He has taken 573 balls to complete 1000 T20I runs Glenn Maxwell (604), Colin Munro (635) and Evin Lewis (640) are next on the list. Notably, it was also the third consecutive half-century for Suryakumar. He scored 34-ball off 69 in a chase against Australia in the third and final T20I. Then, he again scored 50* off 33 balls in the first game against South Africa in a tricky chase.
