Jasprit Bumrah: After the conclusion of three T20Is, India and Sri Lanka are all set to lock horns in a three-match ODI series. The first One-Day International (ODI) is scheduled for January 10 (Tuesday) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Both teams reached Guwahati on Sunday and began their training. However, the Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah did not travel with the team.
Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday that Bumrah had pulled out of the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. According to the report on Cricbuzz, the pacer will not take part in the three-match ODI series as the Indian selection committee is not looking to rush him in too early. Bumrah has not appeared in a game since September 2022. He played his last game when India hosted Australia for three T20Is before the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
IND vs SL: Twitter trolls Jasprit Bumrah and BCCI after the pacer ruled out of ODI series
Earlier, the BCCI added him for the ODIs on February 3. They released a press conference saying, “The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon.” However, it came as a surprise to fans, who were expecting the return of Jasprit Bumrah.
However, the selection committee has left it all up to the Indian team management to decide. The Indian thinktank will decide whether or not Jasprit Bumrah will play in ODIs. The BCCI doesn’t want to take any risk with him as an important four-match test series against Australia will be played in February. India wants Bumrah to be fit for that.
