Former Australian skipper and arguably the best Australian batsman right now, Steve Smith, has revealed his top five players in the world right now, which include batsmen, bowlers, and an all-rounder as well. In an interview on Fox Cricket, Smith was asked to name the top five players across formats who are the best in the world right now.
Steve Smith names two Indians in his top five, including Virat Kohli
Speaking about the best batter of all time in all three formats, Smith picked former Indian captain Virat Kohli. Virat, who was going through a rough patch a few months ago, came into his vintage form recently. He ended up being the leading run-scorer in the T20 World Cup in Australia. He scored 296 runs in six innings at an average and strike rate of 98.67 and 136.41. Virat also scored four fifties in six innings, including a match-winning half-century against Pakistan in the first game. Smith said,
“I am gonna start with Virat Kohli, a world-class player in all three formats of the game. Scored a truckload of runs and yeah a phenomenal player. So my all format player is gonna be Virat Kohli, I think Test, ODIs, encapsulates that whole play.”
Apart from Kohli, the former Australian captain also named Ravindra Jadeja as one of the best all-rounders in all three formats at the moment. Jadeja has been given a break because of his injury, and he also missed the T20 World Cup. However, the all-rounder has been picked for the two Tests against Bangladesh, and he will make his comeback. The other three players for Smith are Australian test and ODI skipper Pat Cummins, former English captain Joe Root, and South African pacer Kagiso Rabada.
