Watch: Steve Smith smashed 16 runs off one delivery in BBL 2022-23: Twitter gone wild

Steve Smith: The 12th edition of the Big Bash League is underway in Australia. And it has almost entered its business end with only a few games left before the playoffs start. However, one man who has set the BBL 2022-23 on fire is veteran Australian star Steve Smith, who smashed two back-to-back centuries in the tournament.

He carried his form on Monday as well and scored a blistering half-century against Hobart Hurricanes at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart. The game is underway, and the Sydney Sixers scored a challenging total of 180/7 in their first inning. Steve Smith, who was coming off of two successive centuries, looked good for a third one. But he missed a full delivery by Nathan Ellis and got out after playing a really good cameo.

Steve Smith scored at a strike rate of exactly 200 and made 66 runs off just 33 balls, including four boundaries and six maximums. He played shots all around the ground. However, one interesting moment came in the second over of the first inning when Joel Paris was bowling. Smith collected a total of 16 runs on the third ball of the over. Many will wonder how it is possible, but it happened as the Sydney Sixers scored 16 runs off one legal delivery.

It started with a no-ball on the third ball, which was hit for a six by Smith. The pacer then bowled a wide down the leg, which went to the boundary and resulted in five extras. Then on the free-hit, Smith scored a boundary, which made 16 runs off the over.
