IPL 2022: The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has been one of the best editions in the IPL’s history. It has concluded successfully with the new franchise, Gujarat Titans, winning the trophy.

This season saw a lot of new faces coming and performing on the big stage. But there were a few for whom this season totally went horribly wrong.

Some records were broken by some players. While some players also registered a few embarrassing records this season. So in this article, we will look at the top five strange and embarrassing records made by the players in the IPL 2022

IPL 2022: Five Weird and Embarrassing Records made in the IPL 2022

1. Prasidh Krishna conceded 551 runs in IPL 2022

The RR pacer, Prasidh Krishna, performed beautifully in terms of his individual performance. That is one of the reasons that RR reached the final of the tournament. He has also bowled the most number of dot balls this season (200).

But the fact is that on his other balls, he was taken to the cleaners by the batsmen. Krishna made this embarrassing record of conceding the most number of runs in one season and gave away 551 runs in 2022. He also broke the previous record of Kagiso Rabada for 548 runs in IPL 2020.

2. CSK and MI suffered 10 losses each

This season has definitely turned out to be the worst season for the two successful franchises. The five-time champions and the four-time champions finished the season at the bottom two places on the table.

Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom, and CSK ended the season in ninth place. Both teams won only four matches out of 14. Interestingly, these two teams have never lost 10 matches in any season apart from 2022.

On the other hand, MI also became the only team to open their campaign with eight successive defeats.

3. Mohammed Siraj conceded the most number of sixes in any IPL season

RCB made it to the third spot in this season of the IPL. But one of their players had the worst season in terms of his individual performance. It was none other than one of the retained players of the franchise, Mohammed Siraj.

The right-arm pacer was hit to all parts of the ground by the batter, and his spell in the second qualifier was one of the reasons for RCB’s exit.

Siraj conceded a total of 31 sixes in the tournament, which is the most by any bowler in the history of the IPL. He broke the record of Dwayne Bravo of 29 sixes in the IPL 2018.

4. Three Ducks for Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in one season

The former Indian skipper is definitely going through a rough patch and his numbers are not even acceptable. This season has also gone horribly wrong for Virat Kohli, who also registered an unwanted record.

The former RCB skipper registered three ducks this season, which is the joint-highest in one season of the IPL. On the other hand, the LSG skipper, KL Rahul, ended the season as the second highest run-scorer, but he got out on zero thrice.

So both these batters equaled the records of Rashid Khan, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, and Anuj Rawat (2022).

5. Rohit failed to score one single fifty

One of the reasons for the failure of the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, was the form of their skipper. Rohit Sharma had the worst season of his entire IPL career.

Prior to this season, Rohit had hit at least one fifty in each of the seasons of the IPL since its inception. But this season, he failed to reach the 50-run mark. His highest score was 48. So this is the first time in 15 years that the MI skipper has ended the season without any half-centuries.
