The year 2022 saw these two teams play three games: two in the 2022 Asia Cup and one in the 2022 T20 World Cup. However, the stage is set for the next mega clash between these two teams. India and Pakistan will face each other in the next edition of the Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in Pakistan.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, Jay Shah, confirmed this on Thursday through Twitter. Shah shared a tweet with a complete schedule for 2023 and 2024. India and Pakistan are in Group 1 with a qualifier. The qualifier will be the team that wins the Men’s Premier Cup. It was Hong Kong that joined these two Asian giants in the last edition. However, the complete schedule is yet to be announced, but it has been confirmed that the Asia Cup 2023 will take place in September and that Sri Lanka, which won the last edition in 2022, will defend its title.
Will India travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023?
Notably, there have a lot of talk about who will going to host the next edition. Pakistan is scheduled to host the next edition of the tournament, which will be played in ODI format. Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah clarified that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan, citing political issues between the two nations. But Pakistan is the host, and there are chances that the tournament will be hosted at the neutral venue. The newly appointed PCB chairman, Nijam Sethi, said that they will work according to what their government asks them to get. He said,
“As far as the Asia Cup is concerned, I will go to ACC (Asian Cricket Council) and see what the situation is, and we’ll take a decision that is in the better interest of the game. We have to see what the other board’s position is, we have to play cricket with everyone, and we will not take any step which can cause any isolation.”
Notably, former PCB chairman Ramiz Raza was on a totally different page. He said that the BCCI can’t threaten Pakistan, or else Pakistan will also pull out of the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup in India if the Indian team doesn’t come. Ramiz also stated that he would have a meeting with the ACC and ICC on this issue.
