Shivam Dube: The forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to get underway in the last week of March. According to some media reports, the IPL 2024 will begin on March 22. This will be the 17th edition of the cash-rich league that will see the six-time winner Chennai Super Kings, defend their title. All ten teams are ready for another installment of this lucrative league. The IPL 2024 auction has certainly changed the outlook for the teams.

All the franchises made the necessary changes to their squads and added some key players to address the issues they had last season. Chennai also made some notable signings. They bought six players at the auction. The franchise invested a large chunk of money in Kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell, whom they purchased for INR 14 crore. They also signed an uncapped Sameer Rizvi for a massive price of Rs. 8.40 crore. Chennai are looking pretty strong as they retained their main performers from last season.

IPL 2024: All-rounder Shivam Dube is likely to miss the first few matches for CSK

Chennai also signed their former star, Shardul Thakur, to strengthen their bowling attack. However, ahead of the start of the competition, the defending champion suffered an injury scare. All-rounder Shivam Dube, who played an important part last season, suffered a bilateral side strain injury. The all-rounder has been ruled out of the knockout stage of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023–24.

He is likely to miss the first few matches for Chennai in the IPL 2024. Dube has been an integral part of the Yellow Army. He joined the team in 2022 and was given a particular role. In 27 games for Chennai, he has scored 700 runs at an average of 28. His strike has been pretty good, which is around 158, and he has scored five half-centuries. MS Dhoni has used him wisely in the middle overs because of his ability to smash the spinners for big sixes.

Notably, a Chennai’s official reported that the actual update will be there after a few days, but they are keeping an eye on his injury. Chennai will already miss Ambati Rayudu, who has retired from all forms of the game. And if Dube is not available, the franchise will have to think about and look for a different batting combination in the top order. Dube has been in good form and smashed a hundred recently in the Ranji Trophy.
