There is no stopping Babar Azam and whenever he steps on the cricket field, he makes a new record. That is what happened last night in the second ODI match between Pakistan and West Indies. Both teams locked horns at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan, and it was the home team that came out victorious by a massive 120-run margin. Batting first, Pakistan made 275/8 in their 50 overs.
And guess what, it was another significant innings from the Pakistani skipper? However, he missed his fourth successive ODI century, but he ended his innings at 77 runs. He, along with Imam-ul-Haq, added 120 runs for the second wicket. Imam also scored 72 runs.
West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals while chasing the target. In particular, Mohammad Nawaz was at his absolute best. He took four wickets and gave away just 19 runs in his 10 overs and was named “Man of the Match”. Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Shadab Khan took 3 and 2 wickets in the match. And it was another big record that Babar made.
Babar Azam created history and became the first player to do so in Cricket

Notably, this was the 9th successive 50+ score for Babar in international cricket. And he has now become the only player in the history of the game to achieve this massive feat. This streak began with an exceptional 196 in the second innings of the second test against Australia. Then, he followed it up with a 66 and a 55 in the third test. Babar registered scores of 57, 144, and 105* in the three-match ODI series.
Then again, he scored 66 runs in the one-off T20I against Australia. The Pakistani skipper had also scored a century (103) in the first game against the West Indies. Last night, he scored 77 runs in the second match as well.
Notably, he also broke the record of former Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the first match. Babar Azam scored 1000 ODI runs as a skipper in just 13 innings, while Virat had it in 17 innings.
