IND vs AUS: India broke Pakistan’s record; scripts a World Record in T20 Internationals

IND vs AUS: On Sunday, the world saw a few close matches across the globe, whether it was Pakistan against England or Bangladesh against UAE. However, India also pulled off an excellent chase in the very last over of the match to script a world record in the history of T20 Internationals.

The Men in Blue registered a six-wicket win over the world champions, Australia, in Hyderabad to win the three-match series 2-1. After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first, and Australia got off to a flying start courtesy of a 19-ball fifty from Cameron Green.

Green scored 52 off just 21 balls, with seven fours and three sixes. Australia lost a few wickets in the middle. But in the end, a brilliant cameo from Tim David helped Australia go past the 180-run mark. He scored 54 off 27 balls, with two fours and four sixes.

Australia made a competitive total of 186/7. Axar Patel once again bowled well and ended with a figure of 3/33. Chasing the target, India had a bad start with both the openers going out early. At one point, India were at 30/2 in 3.4 overs. But then came the match-winning partnership between Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.

Both batters added 104 runs for the third wicket off just 62 balls. SKY was the aggressor in the partnership and scored a 29-ball half-century. However, he got out at the wrong time at 69 off 36 balls, with five fours and five sixes. On the other hand, Virat brought up yet another half-century.

IND vs AUS: India were cruising to victory. Needing 11 runs off the last over, Virat hit a six off the first ball. He attempted another boundary off the second ball but was caught in the circle. The former Indian skipper got out at 63 off 48, with three fours and four sixes.

But in the end, Hardik finished off the game off the fifth ball of the over with a lucky outside edge to point boundary. With this win, India won the series 2-1 and also registered an amazing record. This was the 21st win for the Men in Blue in 2022, as they have now become the first team with the most wins in one year.

India has surpassed Pakistan‘s record of 20 wins in 2021. However, India has equaled the record of Thailand’s women with 21 wins and four defeats in 2019. India needs one more win to be the first team with the most wins, including both men’s and women’s cricket.
