Day 1 of the ongoing fourth Test at Manchester saw some good batting performance by the Indian team. They finished the day at 264/4, with Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur at the crease with a score of 19 each.

But India’s good batting performance was overshadowed by the injury Rishabh Pant suffered to his toe. After multiple injuries ahead of the fourth ENG vs IND test, India suffered an even bigger blow when Pant left the field after getting hit on his toe off Chris Woakes while playing a reverse sweep.

The ball crashed on his right leg, and he was seen in a lot of pain. He was not able to stand, as there was a swelling on his toe with blood coming out of it. Pant left the field and was taken to the hospital for scans. The BCCI informed him that he might not be able to take further part in the ongoing test.

ENG vs IND 4th Test: Rishabh Pant to take a break of six weeks for rehab

On Thursday, the big news broke, and it became clear that Rishabh Pant might not be able to take further part in the game. Some reports claimed that he was advised to rest for at least six weeks and is expected to be ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing test series.

That means India will be one player short. That is why the Indian management has approached the medical team to know whether Pant can take further part in the game or not. According to the medical scans, it was confirmed that the wicket-keeper batter sustained a fracture to his right toe.

He needs support to walk, which indicates that there might not be a possibility for him to bat again, even after taking painkillers. That will leave India to replace him for the final test. The chances are that Dhruv Jurel will be the substitute for him for the fourth test. Meanwhile, India are likely to add Ishan Kishan for the fifth test as a backup keeper.
