Revealed: Virat Kohli withdrew from ENG Tests because of Mother’s illness

Team India lost the first test against England in Hyderabad after taking a massive lead of 190 runs in the first inning. The real cause of the loss was the poor batting from the hosts when they were not able to chase the target of 230 runs and lost by 28 runs. Many believed that India missed Virat Kohli in the game, as the second innings was a complete failure for India.

Virat Kohli, who was initially announced in the test squad for the first two tests, requested the Indian cricket board, management, and captain Rohit Sharma withdraw from the first two matches. However, it is yet to be disclosed why he didn’t take part in the first two games, citing personal reasons.

Here’s why Virat Kohli opted out of the first two tests against England.

It became the headline because everyone was talking about why Virat had decided to miss the first two games. Notably, the squad for the remaining three matches is likely to be announced soon, and some media reports confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still unaware of the inclusion of Virat Kohli. According to a source, the BCCI has not gotten any updates from the former Indian captain about his participation.

So it is so serious that he is currently unable to take part. Notably, Virat has never missed a test match due to injury, but if he has missed the games, there might be something bigger. However, an X user (formerly known as Twitter) claimed that there is something serious and the health of Virat’s mother, Saroj Kohli, is not good, which is why the 35-year-old has taken the decision.

Waleed bin Abdul Az claimed that Virat’s mother was hospitalized in CK Birla Hospital in Gurgaon in September 2023, but his family didn’t inform him because they didn’t want to disturb him during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. However, the X user revealed that the condition is serious, which is why there are chances that he might miss more matches.
