Umran Malik was breathing fire into his spell. In fact, he also bowled the fastest ball by an Indian bowler in international cricket. He reached a speed of 155 km/h and broke the record of Jasprit Bumrah, who held the previous best record of 153.36 km/h.

Umran Malik made the Indian team with his ability to bowl consistently over 150 km/h. That’s what he has shown so far in his short international career. He bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian bowler when he dismissed Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka, who was looking dangerous at 45 off 27 balls, with three fours and three sixes.

Umran came out to bowl his fourth over of the spell in the 17th over. He dismissed Shanaka on the fourth ball of his final over. The Sri Lankan skipper was caught at the cover. The visitors came very close to victory and got all out for 160 while chasing the target of 163 runs. Umran finished with a bowling figure of 2/27.

Notably, the Jammu-born pacer has bowled over 155 km/h as well in the last season of the Indian Premier League. He bowled at a speed of 156.9 km/h against the Delhi Capitals in 2022. Apart from him, debutant Shivam Mavi was brilliant. He had a dream debut, picking up four wickets in his first game and registering the third-best figure by an India bowler in T20 internationals. Mavi took 4/22.

Earlier, in the match, India made 162/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Deepak Hooda (41 off 23) and Axar Patel (31 off 20) added an unbeaten 68-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take India to a challenging total. Now, these two teams will face off in the second game on Thursday.
