T20 World Cup 2022: India is currently playing its warm-up games in Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup. They are scheduled to play two games against Western Australia to start off the campaign. The first match was played on Monday (October 10) at the W.A.C.A., Perth. India won that game by 13 runs.
But in the second match, which was played at the same venue today (Thursday), the Men in Blue suffered a 36-run defeat at the hands of Western Australia XI. In reply to a 169-run chase, India could only manage 132/8 in their 20 overs and lost the match.
KL Rahul scored 74 off 55 balls, with nine fours and two sixes, but the other batters couldn’t do much. Only Hardik Pandya (17 off 19) and Dinesh Karthik (10 off 14) went past the 10-run mark. Apart from Rahul, none of the Indian batters reached a strike rate of 100.

After winning the toss, India opted to bowl first. Batting first, Western Australia made 168/8 in their 20 overs. Opener D Arcy Short scored 52 off 39 balls, while Nick Hobson made a 41-ball 64. For India, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up three wickets. He registered a bowling figure of 3/32, while Harshal Patel ended up with 2/27.
India rested Suryakumar Yadav and Yuzi Chahal, who were part of the first warm-up match, while Virat Kohli didn’t feature in any of the games. However, he came out to field in the second warm-up match. Rohit Sharma also didn’t come out to bat in the chase. India mainly gave chances to other batters, who hardly get time to bat.
Now, India is left with two more warm-up matches to be played. The first game will be played on October 17 (Monday) against Australia, and then they will face New Zealand in the second game on October 19 (Wednesday). Both matches will be played at The Gabba, Brisbane.
