IND vs BAN: After winning the first match, Bangladesh has registered consecutive wins in the series. They have beaten India in the second ODI as well, by 5 runs, at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Chasing the target of 272, Team India could only reach 266/9 in their 50 overs and lost the game. With this win, Bangladesh has won its second successive series against India in ODIs. They won the previous series by beating India 2-1 in 2015-16.
Despite losing the game, the Indian fans are hailing the effort made by the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma. The Indian captain injured his left thumb in the second over of the first innings and was not part of the further action. But he came after the loss of 7th wickets and almost pulled off a brilliant run chase. He remained unbeaten on 51* off 28 balls with three fours and five sixes. But India fell short by five runs in the end.
IND vs BAN: Twitter hails Rohit Sharma despite India lost the series
Notably, Rohit Sharma came out to bat with an injured thumb, wearing a bandage and taping it. It was clearly visible that he was in pain, but despite that, he tried hard. India needed 40 runs from the last three overs, and he hit Mahmudullah for 19 runs when he came out to bowl the 48th over. But then, Mustafizur Rahman bowled a maiden 49th over, which left India to score 21 runs to win from the last over.
Rohit hit two fours and one six, but it wasn’t enough, and India lost the game. On the other hand, after watching this effort from the Indian skipper, Indian fans couldn’t stop themselves and lauded his efforts on Twitter.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. They were at 69/6 within 19 overs, and then Mahmudullah (77) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz added a 146-run partnership for the 7th wicket. Miraz scored his maiden ODI century, made 100 not out of 81 balls, and won the Man of the Match in consecutive games.
